One in 12 firms (8%) have applied for the €2500 online grant available from Local Enterprise Offices nationwide. This is according to Amarach Research who have conducted a survey of 600 firms. And only 3% of small firms have actually taken up the grant.
For those not aware of the grant here are some of the key points:
- grants can be used for the development or upgrade of an e-commerce website
- grants available to a maximum value of €2,500 or 50% of eligible expenditure (exclusive of VAT), whichever is the lesser
- targeted at businesses with less than 10 employees
- applicant business must be registered and trading for at least 12 months
